Prisma Renewable Composites is a biotechnology company specializing in efficiently separating highly renewable energy crops into pure fractions of lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose, and other extractives for use in a multitude of applications including pulp, biopolymers, specialty chemicals and advanced composite materials.

Think Tank

Adam McCall, President/CEO

Adam has spent the last 14 years developing businesses in a wide variety of industries, concentrating on blending effective product development with brand creation. He has held numerous executive positions including Vice President of Product Development, Managing Director, and CEO. Out of Graduate School, he launched his career as a design engineer for a transportation technology start-up where he assisted the company in raising more than $500M in capital, moving into the position of VP of Product Development and being responsible for the design and production of the system which was deployed across the US. McCall helped the company grow from 10 employees to over 1300. In early 2008, he joined Malibu Boats as Director of New Markets Development, and was responsible for the creation and launch of a new boat brand, Axis Wake Research. Serving in the roles of Managing Director of Axis and Vice President of Product for both brands, McCall and his team assisted in growing the company from 22% market share (2008) to over 33% (2013) and positioned the company for its successful IPO in 2014.

McCall holds a B.A. from Maryville College, a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, and an MBA from Tennessee Technological University. He joined Prisma Renewable Composites and developed its business mission based on its early work with the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, aimed at the pursuit of developing sustainable composite materials from renewable sources. McCall was born on a dairy farm in Maryville, TN and is passionate about improving the lives of the rural community by way of Prisma Renewable Composites’s advanced sustainable chemistry.

Tim Richter, Senior Project Manager

A graduate of Princeton University and Northeastern University Graduate School, Mr. Richter has had a diverse career in the consulting and renewable energy industries having held senior positions in project development, project management, and business development.

Mr. Richter’s career started off in engineering consulting where he spent 8 years solving complex geological and civil engineering problems within infrastructure development for a wide variety of global industrial, pulp & paper, wood products, transportation, and commercial clients. Mr. Richter left consulting to join the owner’s-side of development and construction within the renewable fuel space in 2006 where he developed, permitted, and delivered the first commercial-scale biofuel facility with C.I. less than 50 in the United States.

Mr. Richter continued in the renewable energy market sector with senior project delivery roles at Enviva, LP, Iluka Resources, and The Earth Partners, LP until he founded an independent consultancy (Matera LLC) focused on project development and strategic advisory services to emerging and expanding companies in the biofuel, bioenergy, and bioproduct arenas.

Barry Davis, Director & Chief Financial Officer

Barry Davis brings over 35 years of business experience. Prior to Prisma Renewable Composites, he was a co-founder, Director and CFO of Genera Energy Inc., a leading biomass clean energy supply chain firm where he recently completed a capital raise. Mr. Davis has successfully raised capital, managed operations, and structured transactions, including a bond issue in excess of $200 million, designing 1031 Exchanges, led the acquisition of the Kidde Kat brand of infant apparel, negotiated an international joint venture between National Refining Corporation and SGM (Société Générale des Minerais) of Belgium. In addition he was previously a senior advisor to a leading laboratory in the chemical analysis of food, water and wastewater.

Mr. Davis is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and holds the CPA and CGMA designations.

Mr. Davis currently serves as a Director and Secretary-Treasurer of Hillcrest Healthcare Communities Inc. a 560 bed, 500 employee non-profit providing long-term and skilled nursing care to the East Tennessee Community and has held numerous positions as Board member and Director of local charitable organizations.

Core Technology Team

Prisma Renewable Composites has developed a deep bench of consulting and advisory resources from key industry segments, representing more than 250 years of combined commercial sector chemical and materials science expertise. It is a team devoted solely to the advancement of Prisma Renewable Composites's corporate mission. The Prisma Renewable Composites Core Team has been carefully selected to provide vital insights needed to effectively guide the commercialization effort, and includes backgrounds from Industrial Biotechnology, Organic Chemistry, and Polymer Science and Technology. These human resources bring knowledge in lignocellulosic chemistry and materials, passion for their respective disciplines, and excitement for Prisma Renewable Composites's vision.

Beyond the Core Technical Team, Prisma Renewable Composites has engaged over 30 research scientists, Post-Doctoral researchers, and graduate research assistants through its portfolio of carefully coordinated sponsored research agreements. The tightly integrated team of collaborators was gathered from a variety of academic departments at The University of Tennessee, including the Center for Renewable Carbon, The Joint Institute for Advanced Materials (Civil Engineering), the Department of Chemical and BioMolecular Engineering and The University of Tennessee Space Institute. This group brings not only creative thinking to the possibilities, but state-of-the-art laboratories and instrumentation that will bring Prisma Renewable Composites's vision to life. These talented, energetic academic scientists and engineers are a critical component of the Prisma Renewable Composites team, working closely with the CTT to create the knowledge needed for continued advancement.
